Weekly Update

Starting this week, we will be returning to pre-recorded services that we will record each week.  We will still be posting the service each Sunday at 10am so that we can gather together in homes across the suburbs to share truth and grace together.  It’s been fun to hear how God is building deeper community as we gather together.

We are also continuing to pray and process as a leadership and staff what the fall will look like and hope to share soon where we feel God is leading us as a church.  With that said we will not have any in-person gathering’s for our Sunday services until we have determined that direction.  What that means, is we will not gather on Sunday, beginning August 23rd, like we had planned but will continue to Livestream at 10am on Sunday’s and encourage everyone to gather in community and watch together.

We are excited to announce we are continuing our Wednesday Night Gatherings. We have changed things up a little. Join us at 6pm bring your own dinner (Ravinia style). There will be NO food trucks. We will continue with a time of worship and encouragement as well. We are also excited to announce that we are moving the gathering closer to the parking lot for those who want to stay in their cars and listen to the worship from there. Grab your family and friends and join us at Alpine Chapel at 6pm every Wednesday as weather allows.

All church news

Hey, Alpine.

To say this summer has been an interesting one would be an understatement. While these past few months haven’t looked like any of us anticipated, it’s been incredible to see how God has been at work! It’s hard to share in such a short email how God continues to use the people of this church to bring HOPE in such uncertain times. We will be sharing more of those stories each Sunday as we continue to meet together in our homes to celebrate ALL that God is doing in and through our lives and church.

We also want to take a moment and say to all our parents, teachers, and students who are feeling the immense weight of more changes in this new school year: we are lamenting with you and our prayers and support are being sent your way. We can’t imagine what you are carrying. Yet we know that Jesus promises to carry it for us.  Because of that, we are working with local teachers to determine how we can best support each of you during this time of loss and uncertainty.

All of us have been impacted by this virus in ways we can’t begin to describe and yet it’s been so amazing to watch how God continues to be at work in the lives of His followers and those who are genuinely searching for answers in the midst of so much uncertainty.

Through this, our filter as leadership has been three things:

  1. What is God saying?  God has a way He wants us to walk as His church and we must walk in that above all.
  2. What does God’s Word say?  What God is saying is always confirmed through his Word but it also gives us clarity about HOW we are to respond to WHAT is going on in the world today.
  3. What does our biblical community have to say about what God and His Word is saying? We grow in community, we heal in community, and we also discern best in community.

We share that with you because that must be our individual filter for how each of us, as followers of Jesus, are responding during any season of our life, good or bad. Jesus is our Hope! We pray often that each of you clearly hears the voice of God, that the scriptures come to life for you as your guide, and that you have a community around you helping you follow God’s lead. And may we offer one another GRACE in the midst of it!

Now that summer is winding down, many of you have asked what Alpine’s plans are for Fall. We’re looking forward to sharing those plans with you soon and ask you to join us in prayer as we follow God’s lead into this next season!

In the meanwhile, we want to make sure everyone knows what the rest of Summer at Alpine has in store:

  • Weekend Messages – We will continue to Livestream our Sunday services, available at both live.aclz.org and Facebook Live. We’re also providing discussion questions on our House to House page for each Sunday’s message that you can talk about with your family or community group.
  • Community Is Our Design – We know that real spiritual growth only happens in small groups. If you’re interested in joining or starting a community group with people from Alpine or your neighborhood, please email Alex Gowler at [email protected].
  • Wednesday Night Gatherings – Those looking for an in-person gathering this summer are welcome to join us on Wednesday nights from 6:00P-8:00P on Alpine’s grounds. We’ll meet outdoors for a time of celebration and worship together (weather permitting).

That’s all for now! Keep an eye on your inbox in the days ahead for more communication from us as things evolve.
