I absolutely love this time of year! There are so many celebrations and gatherings with loved ones and an overall sweet atmosphere like no other time of year. There is nothing like the love, the warmth, and excitement it gives me. All the feels!! However, as the holidays and cold weather arrive, there are many around us that don’t get to celebrate the way we do. This time of year can bring heartache and real physical needs in the cold weather. I love being a part of Alpine Women’s Shine Project each year because it’s one of the many ways I am able to participate in something greater than myself.

This time of year is hard for many of the children of DCFS, both emotionally and physically. The women of Alpine, from every generation, were able to gather together to create these blankets with LOVE, as we partnered with, “Let It Be Us”, (I love that name!). Not only were these blankets made with so much LOVE, we had a great opportunity to pray over them before sending them off. We prayed for the children receiving them, the families these children come from, and the many workers who are investing in all of their lives. The atmosphere was especially sweet and joyful as we each came together to Shine His light into what would otherwise be dark circumstances. And that is what it’s all about! We each have the privilege of shining the light of Jesus wherever we go, but when we are able to come together and shine….how much greater of an impact and light is shown in our community?!?

I’m so grateful for these opportunities, each week, to pause and put the focus on being a blessing to others. It’s exciting being a part of the big picture of what God is doing around us. I even saw that people were gathering all over our community and having their own blanket making nights to contribute to the cause! God is so good, and it’s a joy to be a part of something so special. Don’t miss out on being a part of what God is doing in these upcoming weeks of the Shine Project! It was so good for my soul to get to laugh, pray, and serve with so many other women this week for such a special cause! I cant wait for next week!

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

In Christ,
