My name is Flavio and my wife is Jamie. We have been married for 19 years and have 4 kids from the ages of 16 – 4. We have been in Missions for about 2 years. We have been working with local churches in Brazil for about 4 years. In the summer of 2014, I led a missions trip to Brazil during the World Cup. We focused on opening a 24-hour prayer room with local churches. We would rotate time in the prayer room and time on the streets, reaching those being trafficked. We trained the local church to do outreach right in their own community. Today, that prayer room has grown into 5 prayer rooms, and the work continues!
Currently, I am planting a church in Partenon, Brazil, which is meeting in a home and has about 35-40 people. We are looking for a building to meet in, and eventually will need a place to purchase or rent. This church is being planted in the darkest city of Brazil. Partenon has the highest ratio of Umbanda, an Afro religion which is witchcraft, and typically mixed with the catholic denomination. Many animal sacrifices happen in the streets of Partenon in broad daylight.
Along with planting a church, I work with local churches – speaking, training, and bringing unity to reach their communities in social injustice. There are over 12 million street kids in Brazil. We work with another local church in Osorio, Brazil, doing outreaches in the favelas, reaching kids. One favela, or community, we reached out to now continues a small group with around 60 people.
We are missionaries, calling the church to Christ-centered devotion and acts of justice, and preparing the earth for Jesus’ return. In addition to reaching Brazil, we work here in the states, as well. I have traveled to speak, have worked with Stepping Stones ministry to fight human trafficking in Lake County, and have worked with the local church to run sports camps to reach kids.
